I love this photograph, and the feelings and memories it brings back for me. We were in Carmel for a few days and I had to go to the beach named after one of my favorite photographers. We spent several hours here from late afternoon until sundown; I spent most of my time photographing these rocks, their shapes evolving as the tide worked to remove the small pebbles that covered them...a composition would change with each rush of incoming water. The next day, we went to visit Kim and Gina Weston at Wildcat Hill, at the same house that Edward and his sons built. Kim is a 3rd generation Weston, and gave us a nice tour of his studio, Edwards darkroom and the area around Wildcat. He and Gina were wonderful hosts, and we enjoyed seeing many of Edwards famous prints hanging on the walls.
